State News Articles

Congratulations again for a great showing at State and for a great season! The Deseret News has a photo gallery of the race-with a lot pictures of Hillcrest runners, you can see it here. Also, there is a short article in the Salt Lake Tribune, mainly about American Fork, but it does mention Daniel Reich's time at the very end. You can read the article here.

Also, the team banquet is coming up. If you have taken any pictures of the team this year (including summer training), please submit them to Coach Olsen. Thanks again for a great season!

Region 2009

The region meet was an intense one for both the Boys and Girls teams. We all showed up with high hopes, and rested bodies ready to run our best races. It was an emotional day, and I feel that our teams became much closer as we prepared mentally and physically for the race. The JV boys made a statement and came out and placed second in the JV race to American Fork, showing promise for the years to come. The JV girls also performed extremely well and placed in fifth. The Varsity boys came in second to American Fork beating Pleasant Grove for the second place spot by only one point. The Varsity girls had an amazing showing and are hands down one of the best teams to come out of Hillcrest in a long time, they placed fifth, missing fourth place by only 9 points to Pleasant Grove. One of the girls, Jordan Kennedy, will be racing at the State Meet as she finished All-Region, or in the top ten at the meet. We as captains are extremely proud of our season and of our teams, it has been an incredible season, and we look forward to the State meet with high hopes and expectations.

Grass Relays

This blog has actually been turned over in part to the captains, so this is Derek posting, I hope the other admins don't mind. Congrats to everyone on your races on Saturday! It was a really good first race of the season, and again I'd like to give an especial congratulations to the rookies, this was your first race and it was a tough one, so good job, this race was a good intro on what it's like to run on grass rather than a track, as well as a good intro into competitive running. As for the results we had a good showing with the boys taking fifth place overall in the Varsity relay and the girls making a very good showing, and I might add they beat those Brighton Bengals!!! It was a good start to the season and we need to continue to work hard and keep our eyes and minds on our ultimate goal of region and state, remember these races don't mean anything, good or bad, they're just experience and will serve to train us and make us better racers so we can be ready to reach our ultimate goal. Again good job and be prepared to continue to work hard for the next two months, it's going to be a very fun and enjoyable season!

Also don't forget the meeting in coach's room at 2:30 tomorrow.
