Footlocker

The racers are officially over! The team has had a fun time in California, which included a trip to Santa Monica were everybody ended up playing on the beach and in the Ocean. Our team and school was well represented-both in conduct and in our performance on the course. Thanks to everybody that made this possible and thanks to our team for all of their hard work! Also, to the parents that made the trek to California-thanks for your support! Click here to see the overall results. Pictures will be posted later on. Hi everybody! This is Coach Olsen's wife. Just wanted to apologize for the not having the video at the Banquet. We were having some serious technical issues. Good news though-the video is now ready! Coach will have it at school with him tomorrow, and I think he is planning on showing it tomorrow. Please spread the word around to your teammates-but first check with Coach to confirm that he will show it tomorrow. Also, thanks for the input on the songs-it was really helpful. Sorry again and I hope you enjoy the video!!

New Song

Sorry this is late, but Elizabeth requested a song to be added on to our poll. The song called Check Yes Juliet and it has been added to the playlist below. It can't be added to the poll without losing all the votes so if you would like to hear it on the video leave a comment on this post!

Year end video

We are in the process of making the year end video for the banquet. We need your help in a couple of areas: 1-Pictures/video. I know we've already posted about this, but if you have them and would like to see them in the video, please submit them to Coach Olsen. If you have printed any pictures, we can use those as display as well. You'll get them back after the banquet and there is no rush on those. 2-Music. We can't decide on what music to use. We want the music to remind you of this great season and should reflect how you felt through out the season. So, on our playlist at the bottom of the blog, we've added some music that we are considering using. Two songs were not included because they weren't in the database, but if you want to listen to them, you can find them on iTunes. These two songs are dedicated to Brad that likes to listen to the Olympic Theme. Listen to the songs, and vote on the songs you like on our little poll. If you have any additional suggestions, please add them as comments and they will get added to the poll. Remember, the songs have to be clean-as we give a copy of the video to Ms. Malone and to Coach Tingey as well. Thanks for your help!

Shock the World!

It's safe to say you "Shocked the World!" Congratulations on a FANTASTIC finish in the State Championship! Here are some individual Highlights: *Jason Lynch was the 6th place overall runner in State. * Daniel Reich was the 46th place overall runner in State. *Both Jason and Daniel were 2nd place and 19th place respectively in 5A. *Josh Kennedy placed in the top 30 in 5A as well! Let's not forget those of you that got PR's in this race. However, the WHOLE team should be credited for this success-you worked together as a team to accomplish being the 4th best team in 5A, 10th best in State. None of the newspaper articles mentions the school (except in the results section), however this article does mention that Jason took second place. Congratulations again!

The season has begun! Congratulations on the Time Trial this week, I'm sure you could see all of the hard work from this summer starting to pay off. Keep working hard and you will continue to see those improvements!

Here are some Driving directions (from Google) for the Invitational on Saturday if any parent is interested in going.

Driving directions to Settlement Canyon
45.7 mi – about 53 mins

Start:7350 S 900 E Midvale, UT 84047
1. Head north on S 900 E toward E S Union Ave (1.0 mi)
2. Turn right at E 6600 S (0.2 mi)
3. Turn right at Union Park Ave (194 ft)
4. Slight right to merge onto I-215 W (12.4 mi)
5. Take exit 22 to merge onto I-80 W toward Reno (18.7 mi)
6. Take exit 99 to merge onto UT-36 toward Tooele/Stansbury (13.3 mi)

For more detailed driving directions once you arrive in Tooele:
If coming from the north (which we will be):
From Tooele City Main Street, head south out of town past the "Go-Fer" Food Store. 1/2 mile further, turn left on Settlement Canyon Road. Head east up the road to the guard shack and head up the canyon. You will see all the buses and cars for the meet. Please call coach Olsen with additional questions.

Desert News 10K

We had a great showing at the 10K yesterday. The team did very well! The pictures will be posted shortly. Here is the link to check your official time. Hey Team! Just some quick information. For those of you running the 10k on Thursday, we will be meeting in the Northeast Parking lot of the Marriott University Park Hotel at 5:30 A.M. We'll then run up to Research Park on Chipeta Way. Here is a map of the area:

Week 3

We've had yet another great week. Don't forget to email your summer mileage to Coach Olsen!! The boys ran 207.5 miles, and we have yet to receive mileage for week 3 from the girls. Just a reminder, don't forget to sign up for the Sandy City 5K on Friday, July 4th. The race starts at 7:00 A.M. and we will be meeting behind the Target (on the northwest corner-where the dead grass is at). Also, if you run any other race this summer (independently from the team), let us know the race and your results! Keep up the good work!!

Week 2

Another great week! Keep running, you are doing great! Don't forget to email Coach Olsen with your mileage report for Week 2 if you haven't already done so. So far, the boys ran 204.5 miles for week 2 and the girls ran 46 miles. Let's keep it up the good work!

Summer Mileage

Summer mileage has been added up for the first week. The boys ran 174 miles and the girls ran 100 miles. If you have not sent your mileage report for the first week to Coach Olsen, please do so ASAP. Thanks!

First week

Great first week team! For the rookies, keep at it. Try to come as much as possible during these summer workouts. Ask any of the veterans, the more you come, the easier it gets. Let's have a great second week!

Summer training starts Monday at 6:50 AM-not 6 AM, at the Hillcrest parking lot. Come ready to run, and it's always a good idea to bring a water bottle (or two). If you have any questions, please email Coach Olsen. Thanks!

Alta Invitational

Congratulations to Jason Lynch for winning the 1600 meters on Saturday at the Asics Invitaional at Alta High! Jason's finishing time was 4:36. Deseret News mentions Jason in an article printed in Sunday's edition, you can read it here. Keep up the good work!

For those of you that don't know, Wasatch Running Center is having an anniversary sale this week. It ends on Saturday, the 8th of March. There are a bunch of good deals if you search carefully!
