Hillcrest Cross Country

High Altitude Running Camp – 2009

IMPORTANT REMINDERS FOR HARC WEEK:

*We will meet at 6:00 A.M. EVERY MORNING. We have registration conflicts and we don’t want any of you missing a run because you have to be at registration. We promise we will have you back in time for registration.

*Talk to your teammates and figure out how you will be getting to these runs. Don’t wait until the morning of to see who you will be riding with. Be considerate and offer a little gas money to those that drive.

*Monday and Tuesday we will meet back at Hillcrest after the run and meet in Coach Olsen’s room for about 30 minutes. We will discuss team goals and other important information regarding our upcoming season.

*Friday is our team time trial with breakfast afterwards provided by the coaches. We will have a 30 minute team meeting after breakfast. Uniforms will be issued at this meeting.

Schedule:

Monday – August 10th: “Lambs Canyon”


Tuesday – August 11th: Mill Creek Canyon – “Dog Lake Run”
(There is a charge of 2.25 per vehicle as you leave the canyon so be prepared if you will be driving.)


Wednesday – August 12th : “Albion Basin Run”


We will travel to the very top of little cottonwood canyon to start this run.

Thursday – August 13th: Brighton Ski Resort

Friday – August 14th : Team Time Trial/ City Creek Canyon
Breakfast Provided after the run

Hey Team! Just some quick information. For those of you running the 10k on Thursday, we will be meeting in the Northeast Parking lot of the Marriott University Park Hotel at 5:30 A.M. We'll then run up to Research Park on Chipeta Way. Here is a map of the area:

Week 3

We've had yet another great week. Don't forget to email your summer mileage to Coach Olsen!! The boys ran 207.5 miles, and we have yet to receive mileage for week 3 from the girls. Just a reminder, don't forget to sign up for the Sandy City 5K on Friday, July 4th. The race starts at 7:00 A.M. and we will be meeting behind the Target (on the northwest corner-where the dead grass is at). Also, if you run any other race this summer (independently from the team), let us know the race and your results! Keep up the good work!!

CORRECTION

Summer training starts Monday at 6:50 AM-not 6 AM, at the Hillcrest parking lot. Come ready to run, and it's always a good idea to bring a water bottle (or two). If you have any questions, please email Coach Olsen. Thanks!

Reminder

Just a reminder, if you weren't to the meeting on Halloween, please talk to Coach Olsen (it's regarding the Banquet on November 8th). Also, please remember to RSVP for the banquet by the 6th of Novemmber. If you have a chance, be on the look out for the Midvale Valley Journal....there is supposed to be an article on the team coming out soon!

Update

Just an update on what is going on. Tentative date and place for the Banquet: November1st in AT200. Also, we will have our fundraiser some time in November, we'll hand out the information to that at the Banquet.

Summer Mileage

Hey team! Summer Mileage has been calculated. The final copy will be in Coach Olsen's room on Monday-hopefully on the Cross Country white board. Please check the information. If there is anything missing or incorrect, please email Coach Olsen. Don't forget about our Invitational on Saturday-Wahsatch Rendevous. Coach Olsen knows the history about this Invitational, ask him how it got started and why you are running in it! Make sure you have a good dinner tonight and PLEASE go to bed early! We'll miss those of you that can't be with us on Saturday.

Schedule update

Hey Team! Just a reminder, we have our first meet on the 18th of August. It is the Tooele Invitational, race starts at 9 AM. We will be leaving Hillcrest at 7 AM, please be there on time! Also, first team meeting is August 27th at 2:45 PM in Coach Olsen's room. Keep working hard!
